Kahana LIFESTYLE

Kahana & Honokowai ,These neighboring areas are about eight miles north of Lahaina, on the lower Honoapiilani Road, just a mile below the tiny West Maui airport, and far enough north to be considered quiet locations. Kahana has some high-rise condos located on a wide beach. Honokowai is a mix of old and new accommodations, slightly more expensive than Kahana, with a narrow beach and shallow water in some places, and no beach at all in others, making it unsuitable for swimming or snorkeling. Honokowai Park, Kahana Gateway shopping center, and several excellent restaurants are nearby.

Kanaha Beach Park:

Kanaha Beach Park is another area that is popular with windsurfers and kiteboarders. While it still can have very big waves, it is more forgiving than Ho'okipa. Numerous BBQs, plentiful shade and restroom facilities make this a popular weekend spot for locals.

Kanaha Pond Waterfowl Sanctuary:

Once a royal fishpond, this bird sanctuary is home to two endangered Hawaiian species, the stilt and the coot. This very large pond is also a stopping point for Canadian geese as they migrate for the winter.
